The team won 9 of their 10 league matches and also had the best goal difference in the league. Unfortunately in the semi-final the team came up short against a highly motivated Westville team who we had beaten earlier in the season. The team went down early in the match by 2 goals and as the pressure mounted, the pattern of play that had worked well all season fell apart and this resulted in the frustration of our team not being able to score enough goals to go ahead. This format of the game was new to some of the players and they took to the game remarkably quickly. Congratulations to Fritz Rheeder who was the top goal scorer in the league with 18 goals. The squad of players were constantly vying with each other for a limited number of spots in the team. This resulted in healthy competition amongst the boys to get chosen for the match day team. With what the boys learnt about the game this season and the huge improvement in their indoor skills, I have no doubt that this group of boys will be highly successful in the years to come!
