142 Rugby Special mention goes to Nathan Comrie and Aaron Holm who played consistently well throughout the season. Thank you to the captains, vice-captains and the Matrics who led with such passion, representing the College well. Furthermore, it was rewarding seeing some of the teams players prove their worth and progress to represent the One-Stripe by the end of the season. Results: Played 8, Won 4, Lost 4 Mr Stafford Gre en Coach 5th XV Rugby Regular players: Nicholas Bergset, Cole Buckle, Kyle-Michael de Beer, Liam de Kock, Luke Gibbon (Captain), Matthew Human, Svenn Kidger, Samkelo Jiyane, Dominic Lincoln, Oluhle Mathebula, Malusi Ngomane, Brett Palmer, Matthew Roache, Luke Shiller, Sakhi Tshabalala, Brett van Noordwyk (Captain), Timothy van Tonder, Luke Weare, Nico Willemse and Clayton Yeatman The 5th XV started the season with a fantastic win over a strong Hilton College team on the hallowed ground of the Stott. The first open team to disrupt the dew, the boys played out of their skins and defended like champions to record a memorable 13 – 7 win. The next fixture proved more daunting, taking on a robust St Charles College 3rd XV on a stagger. The lads from the arid climes of Scottsville proved to be a well-drilled and polished outfit and managed to account for our boys 24 – 20. A few tight fixtures played out against strong rival sides followed. Although the boys struggled in some games, a sense of unity and shared purpose emerged which strengthened over the season. The final fixture of the season saw the side take on Northwood School on their Old Boys Day. With only two boys remaining in the starting XV from the first game of the season, the team put on an impressive display of champagne rugby, running the ball from every corner of the field. When the whistle sounded, the boys had emerged 56 – 5 victors–a great way to cap off a pleasing season.
