In practices, they showed tremendous commitment to improving their skills. Unfortunately, being a young side did not count in their favour. In addition to this, many of the team members were promoted to higher sides or could not participate in matches due to other commitments. They were, however, a great group of boys to coach due to their continued willingness to learn and improve, and their never-say-die attitude. Thank you, boys, for a great season. Winning five of the six matches, and drawing one, the boys showed their prowess as a team. The only game drawn was played against a strong Westville Boys’ High side, the same side our boys had conquered the previous week! There was synchronicity in this team, and the camaraderie amongst the squad was great to watch. Congratulations to each of these Matric boys for a successful season, and I wish you everything of the best as you begin a new chapter of your lives. Results: Played 6, Won 5, Drew 1 Mr Senzo Mtsha l i Coach 5th Team Soccer Regular players: Jordan Bamber, Jared Brien, Matt Brimacombe, Cameron Ferguson, Aidan Forte, Luke Franz, Trent Gooderson, Bradley Green, Brett Holing (Captain), Chase Kelly, Luc Le Clézio, Ethan Mills, Kade Mindry, Connor Nilsen, David Plotts, Kyle Potter, Oliver Stewart The 5th team started the season well with two comprehensive wins against Hilton and Northwood respectively. They conceded no goals in either match. The Westville fixture was high-scoring, and both teams opted for attacking soccer. The boys appeared to lose focus after half-term, which impacted on the strength of the side. That said, the team finished the season with one loss and four wins in a 4-game unbeaten streak. Well done boys on a successful season. Results: Played 5, Won 4, Lost 1 Mr Ga re th Mo erdyk Coach 6th Team Soccer Regular players: Gregory Barnett, Olwethu Buthelezi, Mbulelo Dlamini, Mpendulo Dlamini, Ethan Gourley, Connor Griffiths, Zukile Habile, S’fundo Hlongwa, Callum Hobden, Mbasa Kulu, Carlo Miller, Nkanyiso Mkhize, Alex Moon, Sizwe Sigasa, Ezra Tsela, Dale Young The season proved challenging for the team, and the boys struggled to gel as a team. It was only towards the end of the season that the results began to reflect a team working together, and the boys executed more opportunities and scored more goals. It was great to see the boys develop their skills, work hard during practices and have fun. The season consisted of two frustrating draws in the games we dominated; however, the boys learnt valuable lessons. One of the main highlights of the season must be our narrow 2-3 loss in the first fixture against a strong Westville team, to then come back during the second leg fixture and draw 1-1. These two matches saw the team put to the test. The boys showed tremendous character and determination in two very closely contested legs. Another highlight was the 7-0 win against Michaelhouse. Special mention goes to captain Ezra Tsela whose ability to read the game from the back as a central defender often got the team out of danger. Zukile Habile was a goal-scoring machine. Soccer
