This approach was evidenced in the return match against Northwood on Matterson Field, where the boys won 5-2. A highlight of the season was the teams consistently positive approach to the game and their commitment to their fellow team members. The boys were always confident and genuinely believed in their abilities to defeat any opposing team. This attitude made the season unique and enjoyable, and the boys were a pleasure to coach. The team enjoyed an excellent soccer season where the emphasis was placed on enjoyment and camaraderie. The season started with a match against Hilton College where those in attendance were treated to eleven goals as both teams forgot to defend and played all-out attacking soccer. Our boys made an incredible start and looked set to win comfortably leading 4 – 0, before Hilton came back strongly. The team regrouped and pulled through with a 6-5 victory. Next we played Hillcrest High School’s 3rd team and Westville Boys’ High School. These two games were very similar as we launched attack after attack, controlling possession for the majority of these matches, but struggled to put the ball in the goal, losing 1-3 and 2-4 respectively. In our next match we played the return fixture against Westville, at home. This time the strikers had their scoring boots on and we won the match 4-1. We finished the season off in style defeating Michaelhouse comfortably, 3-1. All matches were played in good spirits and the boys enjoyed the banter between friends. The season’s results are no indication of the efforts given, and their match dedication extended into practices. Each boy gave of his best throughout the season and boys who needed to improve on some of the required skills focused on these in their determination to succeed. Most importantly, the boys had fun, and together they were able to laugh at their own mistakes, showing camaraderie. Their ability to do this shows a level of maturity and allowed them to bond as a team and build a positive team spirit. Congratulations to the boys of the 9th team for their overall approach this season. It was a pleasure to be your coach. Results: Played 4, Lost 3, Drew 1 Mr Cameron Chiocc hetti Coach Soccer
