Chronicle-2019

162 Soccer Thank you to all the boys who participated this season and to the parents for their ongoing support. Special thanks to my fellow coaches for their help and guidance and to Mr Wayne Amos for his expertise and leadership. Results: Played 7, Won 1, Drew 2, Lost 4 Mr Khayan i Nzama Coach Under 15D Regular players: Josh Alcock, Nicholas Baitz, Jordan Balkisson, Ulizwi Buthelezi, Matthew Gray, Nicholas Howard-Browne, Chad Jones, Kudzai Kamwendo, Simon Kemp, Dylan Kriel, Ntokozo Majola, Bandile Makhaye, Connor McGill, Javashkaar Naidoo, Cameron Roache, Heath Rocher, Calem Schulz, Callum Shillaw, Michael Smith, Ruan Steenkamp, Joshua Tomaz The team enjoyed a fun season and were open to learning as much as they could about the game. They were well-disciplined in training sessions and on match days. A definite highlight of their season must be their final match, against Northwood. The game ended in a 3-3 draw and was a great way to finish the season. It was also evidence of how much the boys had learnt and improved throughout the season. I was exceptionally proud of the boys’ tenacity this season and of how they improved. I look forward to watching their further development in the future. Results: Played 6, Lost 5, Drew 1 Mr Nhlanhla Dlamin i Coach Under 15F Regular players: Dylan Kriel (Captain), Lonwabo Hlophe, Sheyn Le Roux, Mongi Luthuli, Vincent Metzer, Javashkaar Naidoo, Vumezitha Ngcobo, Dylan Olivier, Callum Shillaw, Ethan Sumner Despite losing all their games this season, the boys enjoyed the season. Two of the games played were against a powerful Westville Boys’ High School team who dominated both matches. The final game against Michaelhouse was a closer finish, and if luck had been on our side that day, would have ended in a win for us this season. Thank you to all the boys who participated this season; you always played with tremendous spirit. Results: Played 3, Lost 3 Mr Mike Al bers Coach Under 15B Soccer Regular players: Lwandle Bhengu, Marvin Gama, Ethan Glenny, Ethan Hughes (Goalkeeper), Dylan Jewitt, Jamol Langeni, Kyle McGladdery, Sifiso Msomi, Jezreel Naicker, Wandile Ngwane, Joshua Owen (Captain), Adam Pons (Goalkeeper), Tanna Pullock, Tristan Roos, Matthew Smith (Vice-captain), Paul Swanepoel, Bryce Wiggett, Gary Wood, Bongumenzi Zungu This season was characterised by a lack of conversion from the efforts. Although the boys were committed to the shared goal, they struggled to manifest that on the scoreboard. A huge highlight in this season was the practices. Spending time with these young men has been a privilege for me, and seeing their capabilities grow with the ball at their feet has been a joy. At the back, Ethan Glenny and Jamol Langeni were a force with which to be reckoned. Matthew Smith and Josh Owen filled the creative role in the middle of the field very well. Upfront, the combination of Tanna Pullock, Gary Wood, and Marvin Gama proved to be good. Josh Owen was a fearless leader and a capable captain. He maturely managed a group of boys, often creating opportunities for collaborative and creative synergy to flow naturally. Thank you to the players and parents for an enjoyable season. All the best for your future soccer careers and remember that a cohesive team is better than any individual, no matter how skilful he is. Results: Played 9, Won 3, Lost 4, Drew 2 Mr Adrian Ryan Coach Under 15C Regular players: Zach Barrett, Nicholas Borkum, Dagan De Witt, Chaz Gooderson, Njabulo Gumede, Jamol Langeni, Giovan Linton, Lehumo Mahlabana, Kyle McGladdery, Javhar Naidoo, Fynn Pollock, Andrew Roden, Adriaan Smit, Adam Williams, Gary Wood While the season was a successful one, what is of greater importance are the skills the boys developed while training and playing. A highlight was watching three of our boys’ progress to the A and B sides. The team was always willing to learn, and eager to improve their skills. This enthusiasm was evident in their win against Michaelhouse where the team was stretched and put to the test and came out victorious. The players showed tremendous character and determination, not only in that match but throughout the season. Their efforts showed their abilities as a good team.
