Chronicle-2019

166 SQUASH 2019 was one of the strongest squash years we’ve had at the College. Our 1st team comprised several players who had been in the team since their Grade 9 years and the experience that they brought to fixtures and competition was remarkable. The first term saw the 1st team competing in the KZN Top 8 series. Our results were as follows: Lost to Maritzburg College 3-5 Beat Epworth School/St Charles College 7-1 Beat Glenwood High School 6-2 Lost to Westville Boys’ High School 5-3 Lost to Michaelhouse 5-3 In the second week in February, the 1st team travelled to the annual St Andrew’s College FNB Festival in Bloemfontein. This is always a good opportunity to pit our strength against some of the best sides in the country. Fielding our strongest side in quite some time, the boys acquitted themselves well against tough competition from around the country, recording the following results: Beat Kingswood College 5-1 Beat Grey College 6-0 Lost to Pretoria Boys’ High School 5-1 Lost to Grey High School 6-0 Beat St Stithians College 6-0 As has become the norm over the past few years, our Kearsney players were actively involved in the KZN tournaments this year and the College was wellrepresented in KZN selections.
