167 As has become the case over the past few years, the school championships and inter-house competition were fiercely contested resulting in the following awards presented at the Awards Assembly: Open Champion: Dale Young U16 Champion: Luke van Eeden U14 Champion: Otsile Ntsele Most Improved Player: Thomas Larson Inter-house Champions: Finningley The fourth term saw our ‘stayers’ 1st team travelling to the annual Wynberg Stayers’ Festival in Cape Town. Our players did well, achieving the following results: Beat Kingswood College 6-0 Beat SACS High School 4-2 Beat St John’s College 4-2 Beat York High School 6-0 Beat St Stithians College 6-0 2019 was a wonderful year , full of squash highlights. I would like to thank our 1st team captain, Dale Young, and the other Grade 12 players, Reid Stuart, Jordan Baker, Saffin van Straaten and Ethan Mills for their commitment and sterling service to the game at Kearsney College over the past four years. These boys have worked hard at maintaining the standard of the game at the College and look set to do very well as the bulk of our 1st team players move into Matric. I would like to pay tribute to my colleague, Mr Etienne Grundling who has done an amazing job recruiting new talent and tirelessly analysing our boys’ games.
