171 Finals results: Grey College beat Paul Roos Gymnasium by 5 matches to 4 3/4 Playoff: Selborne College beat Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool by 6 matches to 3 5/6 Playoff: Kearsney College beat Pretoria Boys High School by 5 matches to 4 7/8 Playoff: Clifton College beat Rondebosch Boys’ High School by 7 matches to 2 Kearsney’s Kade Mindry and Shail Chetty remained unbeaten for the duration of the festival, winning all their singles matches. Finishing in fifth position, Kearsney’s games included a win over Rondebosch Boys’ High School (5-4), a loss to Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (2-7) and a win over Pretoria Boys High School (5-4). Kearsney is grateful to Growthpoint for their generous sponsorship and to Sportsmans Warehouse and Wilson for their continued support of this event. Paul Roos Tennis Festival The Kearsney College team performed well at this festival with possibly the best results achieved in several years. The boys acquitted themselves well, finishing 7th out of the top 12 tennis schools in the country. They lost to St Stithians College and Waterkloof College but enjoyed good wins against Stellenbosch High School, St David’s Diocesan School, Paarl Boys’ High School and Pretoria Boys High School. Kade Mindry remained unbeaten against all the top players in the country, and throughout the weekend. Hilton College/St Anne’s College Doubles and Mixed Doubles Tournament. Kearsney performed well in both the doubles and mixed doubles events, teaming up with St Mary’s DSG in the mixed doubles. Kearsney defeated Clifton College and St David’s Diocesan School in the boys’ doubles. They lost by a narrow margin to Helpmekaar Kollege and St John’s College. In the mixed doubles, Kearsney College/St Mary’s DSG defeated Clifton College/Durban Girls College; St John’s College/Roadean Senior School and Hilton College/ St Anne’s Diocesan College, but lost to Helpmekaar Kollege. Kade Mindry Kade’s tennis career has continued to grow and has seen him leave a definite impression in the KwaZulu-Natal and South African tennis world. He is currently ranked number 3 in South African Junior Tennis. Kade accumulated enough ranking points to be invited to participate in the South African Tennis Junior Masters Championships, where he finished 3rd. He will be continuing to follow his tennis dream as he heads off to the University of Cleveland in Ohio on a tennis scholarship.
