Chronicle-2019

181 In this Annual General Report, we recognise and honour the donors and sponsors who generously supported the future of Kearsney College. The primary goal of the Foundation is to generate funds for the College and the Kearsney Development Fund for both bursaries and scholarships and for future capital expansion projects. The focus in 2019 was the Centenary Fundraising Campaign and to establish a marketing strategy for the Foundation Department to maximise its appeal. This was successfully achieved with an upgrade to the website, the creation of a Centenary Fundraising page, the creation of a Foundation Facebook page and the establishment of a quarterly Centenary eNews. The first edition was published in August 2019 with the purpose of keeping our Old Boys, and the wider Kearsney community, informed of news and developments around the Centenary. Through generous donations from various benefactors around the world, the Foundation has been able to give 61 boys from Grades 8 to 12 an opportunity to attend this outstanding College. We bid farewell to fifteen Grade 12 boys who have come through this Bursary and Scholarship programme. We hope that one day these fine young men, as Kearsney College Old Boys, will realise the benefit of giving back to the College and will aid other boys, affording them the opportunity to experience this phenomenal opportunity. The staff have settled in well and we have a great team who are well placed to drive fundraising through the Old Boy networks, parents, staff and corporates. KEARSNEY DEVELOPMENT FUND The Kearsney Development Fund (KDF Trust) was created in 1982 to manage the endowment fund of Kearsney College. Its key objective is to secure and grow the endowment funds and to provide sustainable and increasing financial support for the benefit of current and future generations at Kearsney College. Income from the Trust, a separately registered non-profit organisation, is used for education and development of the College. The investment strategy is to preserve and grow the investments in real terms over time, through the combined efforts of the Trustees and an outsourced investment manager. Through the Kearsney Foundation, Kearsney College Old Boy network and Kearsney Legacy Society, donors are approached and invited to grow the Fund and support the sustainability of the College. The Foundation records and acknowledges all gifts and provides Section 18A tax certificates, where applicable.
