182 Centenary Fundraising Be a Founder of Kearsney’s Second Century The Centenary in 2021 provides a unique opportunity to be a founder of Kearsney’s Second Century and to help position Kearsney for the challenges and opportunities of the future. This can be done either by contributing towards human investment, ensuring boys with character and of quality attend Kearsney for generations to come; or by investing in the funding of the Centenary Centre. This world-class Centenary Centre, recently completed, has afforded the College the opportunity to allow Old Boys, parents, and friends of the College to purchase naming rights on 14 modern and spacious classrooms, two beautiful courtyards and the multi-purpose Long Room. The naming rights for Centenary Classrooms have been committed to by Peter Francois; John Bester; Michael Hall and Peta Hall, the wife of Michael’s late brother, David; the Kearsney Striders Running Club; the Class of 1977; KCOB Executive Committee and the Class of 2021. The USA and Canadian Old Boys have secured naming rights for a Centenary Courtyard. Some very generous Old Boys have also invested in the Centenary Endowment Fund for the benefit of future generations. Unveiling of Centenary Classrooms At Founders Weekend, Mr John Bester unveiled the John Bester Family Centenary Classroom and the Professor David Hall Centenary Classroom Plaque. This ceremony was to recognise their generosity for leaving a legacy for future generations. Peter Francois’ plaque unveiling took place in 2016. USA and Canada Centenary Bursary Fund The objective of this Centenary Bursary Fund is to raise US$550 000 by 2021, which will provide support for up to four students in perpetuity. Since its establishment by Michael Hall (KCOB 1953) in 2015, North American Old Boys have opened their hearts by supporting this initiative and are close to donating US$ 300 000. Class Funds Today there are 17 active Class Funds with contributions made on a monthly basis. LEAVE A LEGACY, CHANGE A LIFE! The Foundation and Old Boys have embarked on a social media campaign, finding great success with this new identity. These are a few examples of what has been done this year.
