184 Kearsney Foundation The Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP), Making A Difference Foundation (MAD) and Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA) continue to provide Kearsney with a strong partnership and ongoing support in enabling boys who may not otherwise have been able to explore their full potential. The South African Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) have provided funding for a full scholarship for a Grade 11 pupil. Sisanda Linda (KCOB 2009) was our guest speaker at the 2019 annual Bursary and scholarship lunch on Tuesday 06 August in the Gillingham Dining Hall. As a bursary recipient himself, Sisanda spoke of his accomplishments as a litigation lawyer and reiterated the importance of being grateful for the opportunity to attend Kearsney College and to seize every opportunity. These boys wrote letters to their donors. SPONSORSHIPS A highly successful 12th Standard Bank Easter Rugby Festival was well supported, with very positive feedback received from sponsors, supporters and players. This premier festival introduced exciting new sponsors MTN and Coopertires as first tier sponsors. They provided to the festivities with MTN being very interactive activation area including a cinematic children’s area. MTN also provided the entire infrastructure and covered the full costs of the WIFI. Coopertires also being a new sponsor complemented Halfway Ford well, with their activation being energetic and inviting. Kingsley Holgate was hosted stand on Saturday. We are extremely grateful to Halfway Ford and Hendok who continue to remain loyal to the College and festival. The Founding partners, The Sharks/Sharks academy awarded three players with bursaries to The Sharks Academy for 2020.There are many in-kind sponsors which add to the success of this festival. Compass, sponsored the catering for the exclusive VIP marquee this year. Samkelo Jiyane (Grade 11), Mr Sisanda Linda and Deputy Head Boy Ezra Tsela (Grade 12) Kearsney College relies hugely on sponsorships from Corporates and individuals alike. This sponsorship goes a long way towards supporting the Scholarship and Bursary Fund, Capital projects, Sporting, Academic, and Cultural events. The many festivals hosted at Kearsney College would not be possible without this invaluable support.
