66 SCHOOL PRODUCTION Jekyll and Hyde A dream of mine was realised thanks to the unbelievable commitment from the cast and crew. It was very special to see audiences moved in the same way each night that I had been for the past six months. It was a show based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella, that dealt with the theme of good versus evil and gripped audiences as they came to terms with the evil on stage. This was my second production serving as director, and I could not have done it without the hard work, dedication, energy, and the determination of the cast, crew, and orchestra. It must also be said that it is a special privilege to work at a school where the Arts are supported so well, that a full-scale Broadway production can be staged. A huge thank you must also go to the countless staff and parents who were involved in some way or another, from painting backdrops, sourcing costumes, taking pictures, doing the cast’s makeup and managing the front of house. Lastly, a massive thank you to Andrea Fripp for her continued support in absolutely everything and her ability to always be one step ahead and ensure a smooth sailing show. I was blown away by the talent of the students and am especially grateful to the 10 girls in the cast, who gave up so much of their time to be involved. Jekyll and Hyde pushed a lot of these young actors to spaces they are unfamiliar and uncomfortable with, and it has been fantastic for their skills development. A special congratulations to the matric students who performed for the last time on the Henderson Hall stage. Mr Brett Alborough Producer This year’s Musical Production was a resounding success, with packed houses and standing ovations each night.
