Chronicle-2019

93 against our arch-rivals Michaelhouse and Hilton College convincingly. The boys worked hard for each other in order to grind the necessary results. Our Voodoo team was St Charles College where we played three, won one and lost two narrowly. Two of those matches went into extra time. All our matches were closely contested, providing lots of entertainment and drawing more spectators while creating hype and tension among the players. It is hard to single out the player who stood out the most. It was pleasing to see growth and development of different players for both seasons. Some players came into a team struggling to even make a decent lay-up, however ended the season in a starting line-up. Overall the team were winners and the boys certainly enjoyed a successful run for both seasons. Players were always optimistic and can be proud of themselves for the effort and dedication they put in. Results: Played 8, Won 5, Lost 3 Mr Bongi Ndaba Coach 6th Team Basketball Term 3 and 4 Regular players: Liyabona Cezula, Lindo Dladla, Campbell Duckworth, Oliver Fly, Dylan Forbes, Daniel Hayden, James Jordan, Nicholas Kidd, James Maguire, Lex Rencken, James Riceman, Murray Shearer, Declan Sumner, Clayton Yeatman The season started with the U16 and Open age groups amalgamating which meant that the 16D team now became the 6th team with some additional members. There were some very good players but they were quickly snapped up by the coaches from the higher teams. The boys had improved tremendously and played seven games, losing most of them, but by only one or two baskets. The team put all their tactics together to beat a very strong Westville team, 25 – 21. All the games were close and could have gone either way and the players must be congratulated on their vast individual improvement in the basic skills, which will put them in good stead for 2020. Overall, it was enjoyable seeing these players improve and I look forward to seeing them in 2020. When opposition school did have more than five teams, we put together completive sides from the leagues participants to contest the inter-school fixture. Unfortunately, this proved to be the exception rather than the rule. The boys that did not make it into the 5th team were divided into teams which played games every Saturday when the weather allowed. The U16E team also formed part of the games, thus providing four teams who battled it out for bragging rights. Mr Manzin i Zungu and Mr Antoni e Prinsloo Coaches Basketball
