A special thank you is extended to Mr Sandile Lembetha for his positive approach to coaching throughout the year. Ryan Denekamp, the cross-country captain for 2023, must also be commended for his dedication to running and for encouraging all the boys to achieve their best. The inter-school cross-country league took place during Term 2. Five events were hosted at Curro Hillcrest, Crawford La Lucia, Virginia Sports Club, Waterfall College, and Redwood College in La Lucia. Our boys ran with enthusiasm and were rewarded with excellent results. Congratulations to the following boys who consistently placed highly in their age groups: U19: Ryan Denekamp, Tito Mhlongo (top 10) U17: Rory Treleaven, Nathan Foster (top 10) U15: Luke Treleaven, Lwandile Njapha (top 5) The 2023 Inter-house Cross Country event was hotly contested, as its timing decided the result of the inter-house championship. Finningley were the overall champions, followed by Pembroke, Gillingham, and Sheffield. Well done to Luke Treleaven, who won the 4km junior race in 17 min 20s, and Rory Treleaven, who won the 6km senior race in 26 min 15s. I hand over the baton of Cross Country to someone new at the end of 2023. I fondly remember all the conversations shared while running and walking on the track. It has been a privilege to witness the growth and perseverance of many boys over the last four years. Well done, and keep running! Mr Steven Edwards MIC Cross Country
