Chronicle-2023

191 190 The Under 15A water polo team has had an outstanding season, displaying their talent, teamwork and dedication to the sport. The boys' hard work and commitment have been rewarded with several notable achievements, making the team a source of pride for our school. The Under 15s ability was further evident in various tournaments throughout the season. At the Parktown Indigo Tournament, the Under 15A team secured a commendable third-place finish, demonstrating their ability to compete at a high level. The KZN Top 10 Tournament saw another impressive display from our boys as they clinched third place, solidifying their standing among the top teams in the region. The Wynberg Tournament saw our Under 15A team secure a respectable 12th position in the face of some formidable competition. A shining moment for the team came in the U15 Dallas Hutton Tournament, where they emerged victorious. The boys' ability to rise to the occasion and claim victory in a competitive tournament underscores their potential and bodes well for the future of our water polo program. The U15A water polo team played 36 games during the season - an impressive feat. What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is their outstanding win-loss record, winning an impressive 27 out of the 36 games played. This statistic reflects the team's skill, consistency and ability to perform in various circumstances. Congratulations to the players who have been selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal in the U15 provincial team: Thomas Aylward, Thomas Francke, Levi Thom and Oliver Ludwig. Their success at the provincial level reflects their talent and brings recognition to our school's water polo programme. Reflecting on the under 15A water polo team's achievements this season, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches and everyone involved in supporting their journey. The boys have represented our school with pride and set a high standard for future teams to aspire to. We look forward to their continued success and growth in the coming seasons. Winning 8 out of 10 games boosted team morale and strengthened the unity among team members. Shared victories contribute to a sense of camaraderie, creating a positive team culture. We wanted a positive environment, where the players could support each other and build on our successes. The enthusiasm generated by the team's achievements created a ripple effect, positively impacting the other teams. We would usually play early and lay a challenge to the other teams to repeat our success on the day. One of the highlights of the season was a memorable victory over Hilton in Term 1. The team was 2- 4 down at the start of the final chukka. The boys dug deep and showed pride for their team. In a mature and determined display, the boys fought back to win the match 7-4. Seeing the boys’ faces light up and their joy at their accomplishment is a memory that I will cherish. I was involved with many teams and I relied on the other coaches’ assistance to help us achieve the success that we enjoyed. I thank Mr Rodda, Mr Savage-Reid, Mr Higgs, Mr Green and Mr Macdonald. You were the best team to work with, and I thank you for your support. Then to the boys - thanks for all the hard work! I will genuinely miss this team, but I am excited to see how you progress in the Open teams, as you have great potential. You made training fun and made me laugh a lot. Keep working hard and seize your opportunities.
