47 Academic Review We are pleased to report the results of the 2023 IEB NSC Examinations. Through their hard work, dedication and discipline, the Class of 2023 has achieved an excellent set of results and made themselves, their families, and their school proud. Kearsney once again achieved a 100% pass rate, with a 99,2% Bachelor’s Degree (University Exemption) pass rate. This compares to the IEB’s overall bachelor’s degree pass rate of 88,59%. Kearsney has a well-earned reputation for Mathematics and Science excellence and this reputation was reinforced. The average mark for the Class of 2023 was a very pleasing 73% for Mathematics and 70% for Physical Sciences, significantly above the IEB averages. Half of our IT candidates achieved distinctions, while the average mark for IT was 73%. The average mark for Engineering Graphics and Design was 80%, and 43% of candidates achieved an A. The average for Music was also 80%, while Drama achieved an average of 78% and a distinction rate of 44%. Kearsney is proud of its balance and we are delighted that our academic excellence is similarly broad-based. One hundred and twenty-five Kearsney boys sat for the IEB NSC exams and almost half of our pupils achieved an average of 75% or higher. Kearsney’s academic ethos and extensive Academic Support Programme resulted in a remarkable 99,2% of pupils achieving a Bachelor's Degree pass. Nineteen pupils from the Class of 2023 were on our Academic Inclusion Programme, for pupils with diagnosed barriers to learning, and the average aggregate for these boys was an impressive 66%, with two boys achieving an aggregate over 80%. Amongst the top achievers, one pupil achieved 8 distinctions, 3 pupils achieved 7 distinctions, and 7 pupils achieved 5 distinctions. Seven pupils achieved in the Top 1% of all IEB pupils in a subject. Kearsney’s number one priority is academic excellence. Kearsney boys are immersed in an academically rigorous and inspiring environment from day one and quickly develop academic ambition and a wonderfully positive work ethic. This culture of academic striving, in a disciplined environment, supported by our highly qualified, professional and dedicated teachers, empowers the boys to reach their true potential. As we reflect on the superb results achieved, we acknowledge the important role that so many people have played in making this possible.
