Chronicle-2023

The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment, affiliated with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, is one of the leading youth achievement awards. It allows participants to develop character, discover their purpose, and determine their future. By bringing together practical experiences and life skills, building confidence, encouraging physical health and recreation, and motivating young people to engage with their communities, the Award offers experiential learning opportunities to help young people discover talents that do not necessarily appear in the classroom context. Award holders tend to be well-rounded individuals who are equipped with skills, are physically active, are socially responsible, and have a spirit of adventure and determination to overcome challenges. There were 11 participants enrolled this year. A diverse group, each worked at their own pace, fitting in the extra tasks whenever possible. Adam Kennedy was awarded the Bronze Award. While no Gold Awards were achieved this year, all participants continue to work hard to progress through the various phases of the Award. All participants must be congratulated on their commitment to a time consuming, but ultimately very rewarding project, and I look forward to continued success and supporting a new cohort of participants in their endeavours to achieve the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.
