Sevens serves as a test of rugby skills- passing, footwork and tackling make up the core skills needed for any rugby. We married these core skills with the identification of space in play to make for more complete rugby players. A COVID-depleted team narrowly lost in our opening fixture on the Stott. The team, however, bounced back well to beat the same St Charles team a week later. Unfortunately, COVID illness and isolations forced us to cut our match squad at the same tournament, leaving us with only two reserves. Nevertheless, those nine boys played a stellar performance against a full-strength Westville side. We were unlucky to lose in the last movement of that game. It was rewarding to see the boys grow in character, and a vast improvement in their skills was noted. Connor McIntyre and Lindo Mpungose were relentless in their pursuit of development and success.
