Chronicle-2021

It was possible to host a Matric Dance when the government lowered the national COVID-19 lockdown to Level 1. The date was set for 09 October, which allowed two weeks for preparation. Each of the boys and their partners underwent a rapid antigen test a maximum of 24 hours before attending the dance. Happily, all the results were negative. The Kearsney Matric Dance of 2021 was unique in many ways. The event was held in a clear marquee at the Greyhound Pavilion, creating an atmosphere which epitomised the title of the dance, “Under African Skies”. Matric parents played an integral part of staging the event. Mrs Laura Kidd, who is an events co-ordinator by profession, donated her time, energy, and expertise to decorating the marquee. She donated all the beautiful décor items which embodied the African theme. The dance was relaxed and happy with the dance floor permanently full.
