The following awards were made: Prize for Excellence in Public Speaking: Javhar Naidoo Best Prepared Speech: Joshua Maskell Best Impromptu Speech:Toka Kgomo Best Icebreaker Speech: Benjamin Bur ton “My Fake Holiday” Impromptu Speech winning pair : Ryan Denekamp and Sim Mkhize Best Vote of Thanks: John Eastes and Anesu Chimusoro (shared) Best Introduction: Bongumenzi Zungu Javhar and Javashkar Naidoo shared the running of the evening efficiently as Chairman. Congratulations on your achievements We congratulate our boys for outstanding performances and results at the South African Literacy Association’s Public Speaking Competition. Hundreds of competitors from across South Africa took par t. Joshua Owen placed 1st and Kudzai Kamwendo placed 3rd in the Grade 12 category, while Liam Jansen van Rensberg placed 4th in the Grade 11 category. Seven Kearsney boys made it into the semi-final round. Ben’s amazing sense of comedy combined with his incredibly well-structured workshop led to the creation of compelling and hilarious work.
