Chronicle-2021

The cross country team started the year with enthusiasm after a tumultuous 2020. Tyler Gray set an exceptional example as captain and the boys were ably coached and managed by Messers Sandile Lembatha and Edwards. These factors, combined with a talented and dedicated new group of Grade 8s, meant that all the ingredients were present for a memorable season. Training and ‘out-runs’ were held regularly with great spirit shown by the boys throughout. Thankfully this dedication was rewarded when the league began, with many favourable results being achieved in all the races. Unfortunately, the league series was cut short by COVID-19 restrictions, but this did not stop the runners from giving of their best. Some boys met the criteria for Colours and Half-Colours this year and are congratulated for their efforts. Tristan Sebire, vice-captain, had a strong season and placed 8th at KZN trials this year. All in all, the team trained and competed admirably at every level during a difficult year. The boys look ahead to the 2022 season with excitement and the opportunities that it will hopefully bring.
